Igatpuri is where the Mumbai–Nashik highway climbs into the Sahyadris and the temperature drops about five degrees. Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra, is up the road. In monsoon the whole range runs with water and the cloud sits at window height.
It is quieter than Lonavala and less built-up than Karjat, which is most of the appeal. It is also the closest hill station to Nashik, so it draws from both cities — a hundred and thirty kilometres from Mumbai, fifty-five from Nashik.
Below are nineteen villas across Igatpuri, Ghoti and the Nashik side of the ghat, sorted by how many people they sleep. Every one has a private pool. Prices and dates sit on each villa’s own page.

By train
Igatpuri is a major stop on the Central line and most Mumbai–Nashik trains halt here, which makes it one of the easier hill destinations to reach without a car. The station sits in the town itself, a few minutes from the lake, though you will want a vehicle for the villas further out.
By air
Nashik airport is the nearest at roughly 70 km with a limited schedule. Mumbai is about 140 km and carries the wider choice of flights.
June to September is the reason Igatpuri exists on most itineraries. The Kasara ghat runs with waterfalls, Camel Valley fills with cloud and the whole range turns. It is also when the ghat section of the drive is slowest, so leave early. October to February is cool, clear and the best window for Kalsubai and the forts. March to May is warm but still milder than the plains, and it is the cheapest and emptiest time to take a large house.
- Which is the best villa in Igatpuri for a large group?
- Mount Brook is the largest at nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Whispering Meadows and Wabi Sabi both take eight, and Villa Wine has seven bedrooms against ten bathrooms if the bathroom count matters to your group.
- How far is Igatpuri from Mumbai and Nashik?
- Roughly 130 km from Mumbai, about three hours up the Mumbai–Agra highway through the Kasara ghat. From Nashik it is only about 55 km and a little over an hour, which makes it the closest hill escape for Nashik.
- When is the best time to visit Igatpuri?
- June to September for the monsoon, when the ghat runs with waterfalls and the cloud sits at window height. October to February is clear and cool and better for Kalsubai and the forts. March to May is quiet and cheap and still milder than the plains.
- Do all these villas have private pools?
- Yes. Every villa listed here has its own pool, and no villa joins Stay Ananta without one.
- Can I visit the Vipassana centre at Igatpuri?
- The grounds and the Myanmar Gate at Dhamma Giri are open to visitors, and there is an exhibition hall and a short film. The meditation centre itself is only for people enrolled on a course.
- What is there to do in Igatpuri besides the villa?
- The lake and the trek point above it, Camel Valley on the highway, the railway dam, the Dhamma Giri grounds, and Kalsubai up the road if your group has the legs for the highest peak in Maharashtra.
