Editor’s Note
Alibaug, honestly
Alibaug is the weekend Mumbai cannot stop taking. An hour on the ferry from the Gateway, a short drive from the Mandwa jetty, and you are somewhere that looks nothing like the city you left. That popularity is also the problem: there are a great many villas here and a great many listings that describe a sea view when they mean you can see water from the roof if you stand in the right place.
This edit is the portfolio we actually send people to, arranged by nightly rate from the lowest to the highest. It opens at ₹16,200 for two people and closes at ₹1,05,000 for the best-finished villa we have on this coast. Every villa in it has a private pool, because that is the one thing nobody who comes here is willing to share.
We have been specific where it matters and quiet where we cannot verify something. Where a villa is genuinely beachfront, we say beachfront. Where it is a sea view, we say sea view. Where a villa sits at Kashid or Roha rather than Alibaug proper, the extra driving is stated rather than buried.
Every rating here is the one published on that villa’s own page, and we give you the number of stays behind it, because a 5.0 from seven guests and a 4.8 from eighty-five are not the same claim. Where a villa has no rating yet, we say so instead of leaving a gap you might read as modesty. Bathroom counts appear only where we have checked them — on the morning a group of fourteen wants to leave for the beach together, that number matters more than the thread count.
If you want this narrowed down for you, tell us the group size, the dates and the budget on WhatsApp and we will send back three villas rather than twenty.
Villa 01 of 20
Cosy Cottage The Inner Temple
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 2 Bedrooms
The entry point to Alibaug, and the one we send couples to more than any other. Two bedrooms, a private pool, and a plot small enough that the whole place feels like one room with the walls taken off. There is no lobby, no reception, nobody walking past your window.
It is built for two people who want to stop talking for a weekend. If you are four adults looking for a party villa, this is the wrong one and we will tell you so on the call.
Villa 02 of 20
Shades of Nature
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 3 Bedrooms
Three bedrooms with a private pool, surrounded by enough planting that you lose the neighbours entirely. The best-value three-bedroom we have in Alibaug, and the one that books out first on long weekends.
Families of six take it most often. The garden is the real room here, and the pool sits in it rather than beside the building.
Villa 03 of 20
Sasha Farms Roha
Roha, near Alibaug · 4 Bedrooms
A working farm setting rather than a manicured lawn, four bedrooms, and a 4.9 rating built on forty-six stays — which is a far more reliable number than a perfect score from a handful of guests. It sits inland at Roha, so you trade the beach walk for space and quiet.
Take it if the point of the trip is the villa itself, not the sand. If somebody in the group has set their heart on a sunset beach walk, pick one closer in.
Villa 04 of 20
Boho Banyan
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 3 Bedrooms
Three bedrooms, private pool, and an interior with actual character rather than the beige-and-teak default that most villas in this bracket settle for. Colour used on purpose, texture, plants that someone waters.
This is the one we suggest when a couple or a small family wants Alibaug on a three-bedroom budget but cannot face another identical room. It is newer to us, so there are no guest ratings on it yet — judge it on the photographs and ask us anything on the call.
Villa 05 of 20
Greenscape Grandeur
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 4 Bedrooms
Pet friendly, four bedrooms, five bathrooms, private pool, and a lawn with room for a dog to actually run. Properly pet friendly, not grudgingly so, which narrows the field in Alibaug more than you would expect.
If you are travelling with a dog, start here and work outward. Tell us the breed and size when you enquire so we can set expectations with the caretaker before you arrive.
Villa 06 of 20
Silver Leaf
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 6 Bedrooms
The single best piece of value on this list. Six bedrooms and seven bathrooms at a nightly rate that several four-bedroom villas in Alibaug ask for. Split across twelve people it is the cheapest comfortable bed on the coast.
It holds a straight 5.0, though from a smaller number of stays than the older villas here, so weigh it accordingly. More bathrooms than bedrooms matters more than groups expect on the morning everyone wants to leave for the beach at once.
Villa 07 of 20
Sun n Sky
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 4 Bedrooms
Eighty-five stays and still sitting at 4.8. That is the most thoroughly tested villa in this edit, and a rating that has survived that many guests tells you more than a perfect score from seven.
Four bedrooms, private pool, and a pet policy that actually works. The obvious pick for a family of eight travelling with a dog who would rather have a known quantity than a gamble.
Villa 08 of 20
Ekan By The Sea
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 4 Bedrooms
The villa is organised around the water rather than politely gesturing at it. The living space and the pool both face out, so the view is what you wake up to and what you eat dinner in front of. Rated 4.8 across thirty-two stays.
Worth saying plainly: this is a sea view, not a beachfront. You look at the water from the villa; you do not step off the deck onto sand. For that, see Sapphire Shores further down.
Villa 09 of 20
The Blue Horizon
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 5 Bedrooms
The most affordable five-bedroom villa we have in Alibaug, and it comes with a sea view rather than in spite of one. Private pool, five proper bedrooms, thirty thousand a night.
This is the rate at which a group of ten stops arguing about money. If five bedrooms is the requirement and the budget is fixed, start your search here.
Villa 10 of 20
Pranamya Villa
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 4 Bedrooms
Four bedrooms, private pool, pets allowed, and the only villa in this edit flagged as wheelchair friendly. A calmer, more grown-up interior than most in this bracket, and a layout that keeps the bedrooms away from the pool noise.
A good choice when two couples travel with children, a dog, and a grandparent who would rather not negotiate a flight of stairs. Rated 4.8.
Villa 11 of 20
Prism and Palette
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 4 Bedrooms
The most deliberate interior in this price band. Colour used on purpose, art that was chosen rather than bought by the metre, and four bedrooms that do not look like each other.
Guests who care what a room looks like book this one and then send us photographs. There are no guest ratings published on it yet, so take it on the strength of the pictures — and if that matters to you, Sun n Sky below has eighty-five stays behind it instead.
Villa 12 of 20
Azalea
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 5 Bedrooms
Five bedrooms, six bathrooms, private pool, and a 4.9 rating. Everything a group of ten needs and nothing that needs apologising for.
If you want the shortest path to a good trip for ten people in Alibaug, this is it.
Villa 13 of 20
Villa Lemonade
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 5 Bedrooms
A straight 5.0 across thirty-one stays, which at this size is genuinely hard to hold. Eight bathrooms against five bedrooms is the most generous ratio in this edit, and it is the reason we put large mixed groups here.
Three couples and their parents, or two families with teenagers: the bathroom count is what makes those groups work without a queue. Flagged wheelchair friendly as well.
Villa 14 of 20
The Leaf
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 5 Bedrooms
Five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a private pool, pets allowed, and a clean 5.0. One bathroom per room with nothing to negotiate, and a layout that holds a group of ten comfortably rather than technically.
Nothing here is trying to be a statement, which is precisely why it works. This is the villa we suggest when a group has been scrolling for an hour and needs an answer nobody will object to.
Villa 15 of 20
Casa Del Palms
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 7 Bedrooms
Seven bedrooms at fifty-three thousand a night. This is where the per-head cost of a large group trip stops looking frightening — across fourteen people it undercuts most five-bedroom villas on this list.
No guest ratings are published on it yet. If your group wants a track record at this size, Casa Bella and Sapphire Shores below both have one; if you want the space for the money, this is the sharpest number here.
Villa 16 of 20
Casa Bella Kashid
Kashid, Maharashtra · 6 Bedrooms
Six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, pet friendly, 4.7 across fifty-six stays, and room for twenty-five. It is not in Alibaug proper but at Kashid, roughly an hour further south, and the sand there is genuinely better than anything on the Alibaug stretch.
The extra hour in the car is the whole trade. Groups who have done Alibaug a few times and found the beaches crowded tend to come here next and not go back.
Villa 17 of 20
Sapphire Shores
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 7 Bedrooms
A real beachfront villa, not a sea view. You walk off the property onto the sand, which in Alibaug is a much shorter list than the marketing on most listing sites suggests. Seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, 4.9.
If beachfront is the non-negotiable for your group, this is the villa to build the trip around and everything else is a compromise.
Villa 18 of 20
Luma
Mandwa, Alibaug · 7 Bedrooms
The strongest record in this edit, by some distance. A straight 5.0 held across eighty-four stays — not a perfect score from a handful of guests, but a perfect score that has survived eighty-four separate groups.
Seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and three hundred and fifty metres from the Mandwa jetty, so you step off the ferry from Mumbai and you are more or less there. For a group arriving with children or elderly parents, that short walk is worth more than any amenity on the list.
Villa 19 of 20
Ember & Sage
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 10 Bedrooms
Ten bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and room for fifty people. One bathroom per room, all ten of them, which is what makes a group this size survive a morning.
It sits at 4.5 across sixty-nine stays — the lowest rating in this edit, and we would rather say so than hide it. At this scale, with this many guests, keeping everyone happy is a different problem from running a six-bedroom villa. If your group is twenty rather than fifty, Luma or Sapphire Shores will give you a smoother trip.
Villa 20 of 20
Acasa
Alibaug, Maharashtra · 5 Bedrooms
The top of our Alibaug portfolio. Five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a nightly rate higher than the ten-bedroom villa above it, which tells you where the money has gone: finish and privacy, not bedroom count.
It is rated 4.6 from nine stays, so the sample is small. If you want the best-finished villa on this coast and the price is not the deciding factor, this is our answer — but at this rate you should ask us exactly what you are paying for, and we will tell you.
Why Stay Ananta
What you get beyond the keys
We operate across forty locations in India and every villa in the portfolio has a private pool. That is the floor, not a feature we advertise. What changes the trip is everything around it.
In-house dining. A cook at the villa for every meal, cooking to your menu rather than a buffet. Vegetarian, Jain, high-protein, a child who only eats one thing: tell the team in advance and it is arranged before you arrive.
One number, the whole stay. You speak to a person, not a chatbot, from the enquiry to the checkout. If the water pressure fails at eleven at night, the same number answers.
Honest listings. The rate you see is the rate. Beachfront means beachfront. If a villa is an hour further than you think, we say so on the call rather than letting you find out in the car.
Experiences on request. Bonfires, private celebrations, watersports and local guides, booked through the villa team instead of negotiated at the beach.
Questions
Before you book
What is the cheapest villa in Alibaug with a private pool?
Cosy Cottage – The Inner Temple, a two-bedroom at ₹16,200 per night, is the lowest nightly rate in our Alibaug portfolio and still has a private pool to itself. Shades of Nature follows at ₹20,300 if you need a third bedroom.
Which villas in Alibaug are actually beachfront?
Sapphire Shores is genuine beachfront — you walk off the property onto the sand. Ekan By The Sea and The Blue Horizon have sea views, which is a different thing: you look at the water from the villa rather than stepping onto the beach from it. A great many Alibaug listings blur that line, so ask the question directly before you book anywhere.
Are there pet-friendly villas in Alibaug?
Yes. Greenscape Grandeur, Sun n Sky, Pranamya Villa and Casa Bella – Kashid all take dogs. Tell us the breed and size when you enquire so the caretaker knows what to expect, and we will confirm before you set off.
How many bedrooms should we book for our group?
Two guests per bedroom is the comfortable planning number. Six people fit a three-bedroom, ten fit a five-bedroom, and Ember & Sage takes up to fifty. Where we have verified the bathroom count, it is on the villa’s page in this edit — for larger groups that matters more than bedroom count.
Is Alibaug or Kashid better for the beach?
Kashid, clearly, if the beach is the point of the trip. The sand there is better than anything on the Alibaug stretch and it is far less crowded. The cost is roughly an extra hour of driving south. Casa Bella sits at Kashid; everything else in this edit is Alibaug and its immediate surroundings.
How do we get to Alibaug from Mumbai?
The ferry from the Gateway of India to the Mandwa jetty takes about an hour, then a short drive to the villa. Luma sits 350 metres from the jetty, which is the shortest transfer in this edit. Driving round through Panvel takes roughly three to four hours depending on traffic.
What is included in the nightly rate?
The villa and its private pool, with the caretaking team on site. In-house dining is arranged separately so you pay for the meals you actually want, cooked to your menu. Ask on WhatsApp and we will quote the full trip, dining included, before you commit.
Can you help us choose between these villas?
That is the part we are actually useful for. Send the group size, your dates and the budget to +91 9115127778 and we will come back with three villas rather than twenty, and tell you honestly which of them we would pick.
Private pool villas across forty locations in India, with in-house dining and one number for the whole stay.
