Two bedrooms is a short list in Alibaug — one house, and we would rather say so than pad the page. Cosy Cottage – The Inner Temple is a standalone, secluded cottage for up to six guests, and the cheapest way onto this stretch of coast with a whole property to yourself.

The house

Cosy Cottage – The Inner Temple

Two ground-floor bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, for up to six guests. The water feature is a private outdoor jacuzzi rather than a swimming pool — that is the honest description, and it is charged as an add-on at ₹5,000 a day. It holds up to four adults and three children. Outdoor furniture seats six.

The cottage is standalone and secluded, close to Mandwa jetty and within reach of the Alibaug beaches. There is Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a television in one bedroom, a refrigerator and water purifier, and inverter backup that runs lights and fans for about four hours. A bonfire can be arranged at ₹1,000 a session plus raw materials at cost. There are indoor and outdoor games including badminton. A caretaker is on site from 9 AM to 10 PM.

Parking is for four cars, about 100 m from the cottage. It is pet-friendly on prior request and not wheelchair-accessible. There is no guest kitchen access.

Rated 4.8.

Why two bedrooms in Alibaug?

The cheapest way into Alibaug

At around ₹16,200 a night this is the lowest rate we have on this coast. The three-bedroom collection starts at about ₹20,300, so if your group is six, compare the two — the gap is about ₹4,000 and buys a third bedroom.

Built for a couple or a small family

Six guests in two ensuite bedrooms, a jacuzzi and a secluded plot is a different proposition from a large villa scaled down. This is the house for a quiet weekend rather than a group trip.

Close to the jetty

Being near Mandwa matters more at this size than it does at eight bedrooms: with a small group you are more likely to take the ferry than drive, and a short transfer at the far end is the difference between arriving relaxed and arriving late.

What you should know before booking

  • The water feature is a jacuzzi, not a swimming pool, and it carries a ₹5,000 per day charge. If you want a pool you can swim lengths in, this is not the house — tell us and we will send you the three-bedroom options instead.
  • Parking is about 100 m away, not at the door.
  • Backup is an inverter, not a generator — roughly four hours for lights and fans, not air conditioning.
  • There is no guest kitchen access, and the caretaker is on site 9 AM to 10 PM rather than overnight.

We would rather you knew all four before booking than discovered them on arrival.

What if Cosy Cottage is taken on my dates?

Alibaug or Karjat for two bedrooms?

Alibaug is the coast — beaches, the Mandwa ferry, and a two to three hour trip from Mumbai by road or about an hour by sea. It is at its best from October to May. Karjat at this size is about ₹3,000 cheaper and is a valley rather than a shoreline, at its best in the monsoon when the Alibaug ferries are disrupted and the sea closes. Pick by season as much as by preference.

How do you get to Alibaug from Mumbai?

RouteHow it worksBest for
Ferry to MandwaFrom the Gateway of India or Bhaucha Dhakka, roughly an hour, then a short driveThe fastest route, and this cottage is close to the jetty
Road via the Atal SetuRoughly 100 km, two to two and a half hoursLuggage, a pet, or wanting your own car
Road via PanvelThe older route, around three hoursTravelling from Navi Mumbai or Pune

Ferries are suspended in rough weather through the monsoon, so between June and September plan on the road. Parking is about 100 m from the cottage.

When is the best time to book?

SeasonMonthsWhat to expect
PeakMid-December to early JanuaryThe best weather and the highest rates. Book well ahead
HighOctober–FebruaryDry, mild, the sea at its calmest. The sweet spot
ShoulderMarch–MayHot and humid. The lowest rates, and when the jacuzzi matters least
MonsoonJune–SeptemberGreen and cheap, but the sea closes and ferries are disrupted

With one house at this size, three to four weeks ahead for an ordinary weekend and six to eight for a long weekend or a holiday.

Is food included?

Meal packages are available, cooked on site and charged per person per day separately from the tariff, with a reduced rate for children, covering breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner. Orders need 72 hours' notice with payment 48 hours before check-in. There is no guest kitchen access, so the meal package is the practical option rather than an extra.

How many 2 BHK villas in Alibaug do you have?

One, Cosy Cottage – The Inner Temple. Two bedrooms is a small part of the Alibaug market and we would rather keep the page honest than pad it.

Does it have a swimming pool?

No, and this is the thing to be clear about. It has a private outdoor jacuzzi rather than a swimming pool, and the jacuzzi is charged as an add-on at 5,000 rupees a day. It holds up to four adults and three children. If you want a pool you can swim in, tell us and we will send the three-bedroom options instead.

How many guests fit?

Up to six, across two ground-floor bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The outdoor furniture seats six.

Is it cheaper than a 3 BHK in Alibaug?

Yes, by about 4,000 rupees a night. The three-bedroom collection starts at about 20,300. If your group is six rather than four, compare the two properly — the extra bedroom and a real pool may be worth the difference.

Is it pet-friendly?

Yes, on prior request. Tell us when you enquire so we can clear it with the owner before you book rather than after.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

No. If anyone in your group needs step-free access, tell us before booking and we will find you something that works.

Where do we park?

Parking is for four cars, about 100 m from the cottage rather than at the door. Worth knowing if you are travelling with heavy luggage or small children.

What happens in a power cut?

There is inverter backup that runs lights and fans for roughly four hours. It does not run the air conditioning. Alibaug does get outages, so plan for that rather than assuming a generator.

Is there a caretaker?

Yes, on site from 9 AM to 10 PM. There is no overnight staff presence, and there is no guest kitchen access.

Is food included?

Meal packages are available, cooked on site and charged per person per day separately from the tariff, with a reduced rate for children, covering breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner. How do I get to Alibaug from Mumbai?

The ferry from the Gateway of India or Bhaucha Dhakka to Mandwa takes about an hour, then a short drive — and this cottage is close to the jetty, which is its main practical advantage. When is the best time to visit Alibaug?

October to February is the season, and mid-December to early January is the peak. March to May is hot and humid with the lowest rates. The monsoon from June to September is green and cheap, but the sea closes to swimming and the ferries are disrupted.

Should I book two bedrooms in Alibaug or in Karjat?

Alibaug for the dry months and the coastline. Karjat for the monsoon, for hills and green rather than sand, and it is about 3,000 rupees cheaper a night at this size. The rains are exactly when the Alibaug ferries are disrupted and Karjat is at its best.

Can we have a bonfire?

Yes, at 1,000 rupees a session plus raw materials at cost. Arrange it when you book rather than on the night.

How far ahead should I book?

Three to four weeks for an ordinary weekend, six to eight for a long weekend or a holiday. With a single house at this size there is nothing to fall back on at the same price.

How do I check availability and book?

Open the villa page. It shows a live calendar with the dates that are free and the rate for those nights, and takes the booking directly on the site.
